Your Experience

Personal attention and thorough, thoughtful care is the hallmark of the Sheldon Sowell Center for Health. Here’s what you experience as our patient:

Respect for your time
Our commitment to treating you like family begins the minute you walk through the door. We don’t keep you waiting needlessly. When you have an appointment, we see you promptly. For each visit, we make every effort to schedule enough time so that you can ask any questions, and say what’s on your mind — and we can answer your questions without rushing.

Personal care from your doctor
You will notice a number of pleasing differences in the way we do things. Doctors provide all our care — we don’t employ nurse practitioners or physician assistants.

When you become a patient, you’ll choose from one of our doctors. Occasionally, emergency visits may require some flexibility in scheduling. But typically, the doctor you begin seeing is the one you will see for all your visits. This way you can rely on care from the doctor who knows you best.

Availability. Virtually any time
We know how frustrating it is to have a medical problem and hear that there are no appointments available for a week or more. That’s why we maintain room in our schedule so that when you need an appointment for a sudden or urgent concern, we can usually see you. And, we answer the phone on evenings and weekends. If you need to call us after hours you want your doctor, not an answering service.

Keeping you informed
It’s your body and your health, and you have a right to know the results of your tests and procedures. Our written summary of your Annual Exam includes copies of all your lab results and findings, along with our recommendations for maintaining and improving your health.

We also work diligently to stay on top of the latest information on wellness. When new options and findings can potentially affect you and your health, we let you know.

Taking care of the details
The last thing you need is to worry about keeping track of when you’re due for this test or that follow-up. Specially designed software allows us to track your test results, respond to any abnormal findings, and remind you when appointments or repeat testing are needed.

We manage the details of your health care so that you can get on with your life. It’s our job; it’s important; and we’re good at it.
